Overview

This is pathway 2 of our EQA suite of qualifications and is intended for those who wish to become a qualified External Quality Assurer.

Who is the course for?

Learners who achieve this qualification, aside from being fully qualified to practice as an EQA, have a wide range of qualification progression opportunities. An example of this is teaching in the lifelong learning sector suite of qualifications such as Level 4 Education and Training, Level 5 Education and Training.

What are the entry requirements to access the course?

You will already be a qualified assessor and IQA in order to access this course. You will need access to a PC/Laptop/Mac and internet access. You will also be required to be motivated and able to set aside time to complete your work

Do I have to sit exams?

As this is a vocational qualification there are no final exams for you to sit. You will be continually assessed using a variety of tasks intended to show and use the skillset that you have.

How is this course delivered?

This course is delivered remotely utilising our materials and the use of zoom / teams / Skype, etc.  All written work will be submitted and assesed via our portfolio system.

What is the duration of the course?

The duration of the course is approximately 75 hours TQT.  This includes tutoring and individual learning; however, as we take into account your previous work and academic history this could be less.

What will I learn from the course?

You will learn the role of EQA and be able to quality assure within your and external organisations.

Course Format

This qualification comprises of two mandatory units.

Mandatory Units:

6 Credit unit at Level 4

  • Understand the context and principles of external quality assurance
  • Understand how to plan the external quality assurance of assessment
  • Understand how to externally evaluate the quality of assessment and internal quality assurance
  • Understand how to externally maintain and improve the quality of assessment
  • Understand how to manage information relevant to external quality assurance
  • Understand the legal and good practice requirements relating to external quality assurance

6 Credit unit at Level 4

  • Be able to plan the external quality assurance of assessment
  • Be able to externally evaluate internal quality assurance and assessment
  • Be able to maintain and improve internal quality assurance processes
  • Be able to manage information relevant to the external quality assurance of assessment
  • Be able to maintain legal and good practice requirements when externally monitoring and maintaining the quality of assessment
