Overview

This is pathway 3 of our EQA suite of qualifications. This qualification is intended for those who lead a team of people responsible for assuring the quality of assessment from outside an organisation or assessment centre, usually on behalf of an Awarding Organisation.

Who is the course for?

Learners who achieve this qualification have a wide range of qualification progression opportunities, for example the teaching in the lifelong learning sector suite of qualifications such as Level 4 Education and Training, Level 5 Education and Training

What are the entry requirements to access the course?

You will already be a qualified assessor and IQA in order to access this course. You will need access to a PC/Laptop/Mac and internet access. You will also be required to be motivated and able to set aside time to complete your work

Do I have to sit exams?

As this is a vocational qualification there are no final exams for you to sit. You will be continually assessed using a variety of tasks intended to show and use the skillset that you have.

How is this course delivered?

This course is delivered remotely utilising our materials and the use of zoom / teams / Skype, etc. All written work will be submitted and assesed via our portfolio system.

What is the duration of the course?

The duration of the course is approximately 100 hours TQT. This includes tutoring and individual learning; however, as we take into account your previous work and academic history this could be less.

What will I learn from the course?

As this qualification is intended for those who lead a team of people responsible for assuring the quality of assessment from outside an organisation or assessment centre, usually on behalf of an Awarding Organisation. It also provides a national benchmark of good practice, capturing the skills, knowledge and experience needed to perform the key activities of internally quality assuring assessment

This qualification comprises of three mandatory units.

F/601/5322 - Understanding The Principles And Practices Of Externally Assuring The Quality Of Assessment

6 Credit unit at Level 4

Understand the context and principles of external quality assurance

Understand how to plan the external quality assurance of assessment

Understand how to externally evaluate the quality of assessment and internal quality assurance

Understand how to externally maintain and improve the quality of assessment

Understand how to manage information relevant to external quality assurance

Understand the legal and good practice requirements relating to external quality assurance

H/600/9674 - Plan, allocate and monitor work in own area of responsibility

5 Credit unit at Level 4

Be able to produce a work plan for own area of responsibility

Be able to allocate and agree responsibilities with team members

Be able to monitor the progress and quality of work in own area of responsibility and provide feedback

Be able to review and amend plans of work for own area of responsibility and communicate changes

Be able to plan the external quality assurance of assessment

Be able to externally evaluate internal quality assurance and assessment

Be able to maintain and improve internal quality assurance processes
