Overview

The purpose of this qualification is to help learners aged 16+ to develop the skills, abilities and personal qualities that optimise success in working life and further learning

Who is the course for?

The purpose of the qualification is to harness some skills which will assist you to gain employment

What are the entry requirements to access the course?

There are no formal entry requirements to access this course; however, you will need access to a PC/Laptop/Mac and internet access. You will also be required to be motivated and able to set aside time to complete your work.

Do I have to sit exams?

As this is a vocational qualification there are no final exams for you to sit. You will be continually assessed using a variety of tasks intended to show and use the skillset that you have.

How is this course delivered?

This course is delivered remotely utilising our materials and the use of zoom / teams / Skype, etc.  All written work will be submitted and assesed via our portfolio system.

What is the duration of the course?

The duration of the course is approximately 160 hours TQT.  This includes tutoring and individual learning; however, as we take into account your previous work and academic history this could be less.

What will I learn from the course?

This qualification provides an introduction to the skills, qualities and knowledge that may be required for employment in a particular vocational sector

Course Format

This qualification comprises of nine mandatory units.

Mandatory Units:

2 Credit unit at Level 3

  • Understand the purpose of constructive feedback in the workplace

  • Be able to give and receive constructive feedback

  • Be able to review own skills in giving and receiving constructive feedback

2 Credit unit at Level 2

  • Be able to produce a personal budget.

  • Understand the use of credit to borrow money.

3 Credit unit at Level 2

  • Know the statutory rights and responsibilities of employees and employers within own area of work

  • Understand agreed ways of working that protect own relationship with employer

  • Know how own role fits within the wider context of the sector

  • Know career pathways available within own and related sectors

2 Credit unit at Level 3

  • Be able to identify strengths and needs in own learning

  • Understand opportunities for further learning development

  • Be able to plan own further learning development

1 Credit unit at Level 3

  • Understand the benefits of confidence for work

  • Understand how confidence is supported by assertive behaviour

  • Understand how to develop confidence for work

1 Credit unit at Level 3

  • Be able to organize and manage own learning goals

  • Be able to reflect on own learning

2 Credit unit at Level 3

  • Know about persuasion in the workplace
  • Be able to use skills to negotiate
  • Be able to review own skills in negotiating

2 Credit unit at Level 3

  • Understand the advantages and disadvantages of having a team complete a task
  • Understand the need for a team to work to an agreed code of conduct.
  • Be able to recognise the different strengths, skills and experiences different people bring to a team
  • Be able to allocate roles and responsibilities within the team in relation to a given task.
  • Be able to work positively as a member of a team
  • Be able to reflect on the performance of a team.
