Overview

This is pathway 3 of our assessor suite of qualifications. This qualification is intended for those who assess both occupational competence in the classroom and knowledge and understanding in environments.

Who is the course for?

This qualification is intended for those who assess vocational skills, knowledge and understanding in environments other than the work environment (for example a workshop, classroom or other training environment). It will enable individuals to perform assessment activities within a wide range of activities such as; assessment of learners in a simulated environment, learners doing skills test, oral, written or multi choice questioning, assignments, projects etc.

What are the entry requirements to access the course?

Depending on which pathway you choose, the Assessor Programmes are aimed at learners who either want to understand the fundamental principles of assessment or who want to practice as an Assessor. This qualification is designed for learners aged 19 and above. There are not any specific recommended prior learning requirements for this qualification. However, learners might find it helpful if they have achieved a previous Level 3 qualification.

Do I have to sit exams?

As this is a vocational qualification there are no final exams for you to sit. You will be continually assessed using a variety of tasks intended to show and use the skillset that you have.

How is this course delivered?

This course is delivered remotely utilising our materials and the use of zoom / teams / Skype, etc. All written work will be submitted and assesed via our portfolio system.

What is the duration of the course?

The duration of the course is approximately 40 hours TQT. This includes tutoring and individual learning; however, as we take into account your previous work and academic history this could be less.

What will I learn from the course?

Anyone achieving this award will enable them to perform assessment activities within a classroom environment and
licence to practice as a vocational assessor and this qualification provides progression to the Level 4 Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice

This qualification comprises of two mandatory units.

Understand the principles and requirements of assessment

Understand different types of assessment method

Understand how to plan assessment

Understand how to involve learners and others in assessment

Understand how to make assessment decisions

Understand how to manage information relating to assessment

Understand the legal and good practice requirements in relation to assessment

Be able to prepare assessments of vocational skills, knowledge and understanding

Be able to carry out assessments of vocational skills, knowledge and understanding

Be able to provide required information following the assessment of vocational skills, knowledge and understanding

Be able to maintain legal and good practice requirements when assessing vocational skills, knowledge and understanding
